ISIS-K Car Blown Up By US Drone, Full Of Bombs, Plans To Attack Afghanistan’s Kabul Airport

The ISIS-K car detonated by a United States (US) drone in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Sunday (29/8/2021) contained a suicide bomber and the perpetrators.

The victims in the car are suspected of attacking Kabul airport, either by blowing themselves up or with their car, US officials said.

This is the second US attack against ISIS-K after the Kabul Afghanistan bombings that killed 13 “Uncle Sam’s Country” soldiers, including a woman who was photographed holding a baby during an evacuation.

A US official said Sunday’s attack was carried out by a drone and a secondary explosion after the attack indicated the vehicle was carrying a large amount of explosives.

Witnesses reported a large explosion rocked the area north of Hamid Karzai International Airport, and television footage showed black smoke rising into the sky.

“(The car) was loaded (explosives) and ready to go,”

US Central Command confirmed the attack and said it was investigating reports of civilian casualties.

“We know that there was a subsequent large and powerful explosion resulting from the destruction of the vehicle, indicating a large amount of explosives inside which may have caused additional casualties,” he said.

“It is not certain what might have happened, and we are investigating further,” Central Command added.

The vehicle the US targeted in the airstrike was next to the building and contained one suicide bomber, a US official told CNN.

“(The car) was loaded (explosives) and ready to go,” the US official told CNN.

“The threat could also be a car bomb or someone in a suicide vest,” a Pentagon official told CNN.
