United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a meeting with seven Uighur internment camp survivors, human rights defenders and activists, and families of individuals detained in Xinjiang, China.
According to US State Department spokesman Ned Price, at the meeting, Blinken conveyed the United States’ commitment to working with allies and partners to call for an end to the ongoing crimes against humanity and genocide against the Uighurs and members of other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang by the Republic of Indonesia. In recent times, the Chinese Embassy said, a small number of Western countries have political motives to antagonize China, “thus creating false rumors that China is carrying out so-called “repression of ethnic minorities”, “restrictions on religious freedom”, etc. in Xinjiang.
The statement also conveys that the untrue rumors are completely unfounded – referring to the issue of genocide, forced sterilization and forced labor in Xinjiang.
