Manchester United will not participate in the 2022/2023 Champions League. This is considered to make it difficult for the Red Devils to bring in the world’s top players.
Man United finished sixth in the Premier League last season. That makes Bruno Fernandes et al. only entitled to appear in the Europa League, the second class event under the Champions League.

The competition affected Manchester United in the summer transfer market this year. The club even so far is still difficult to get Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.
The Dutch midfielder has not yet decided whether or not to go to Old Trafford. In fact, Barcelona has given the green light to move and if you don’t want to leave, you have to be willing to cut your salary.
“I spoke to Frenkie De Jong at the A-League All Star game in May, and you knew beforehand that it was going to be a deal,” said former Man United player Dwight Yorke, quoted by The Sun.
“He is playing for a big club and despite the money issues he has the opportunity to play in the Champions League there.”

“The players we are chasing are in a very strong position so it is very difficult to lure them to come to Man United. The club has no bargaining power and cannot attract the best players anymore,” he said.
Manchester United is currently also likely to be abandoned by Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star has reportedly asked to be sold and not playing in the Champions League was one of the reasons for leaving.
