Pep Guardiola Wary Of Messi’s Record Against Manchester City

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said he would be wary of the movements of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Lionel Messi in the Champions League preliminary round, Wednesday (29/9) early morning WIB. Because Messi has an impressive record against The Citizens.

While still in Barcelona’s uniform, La Pulga – Messi’s nickname – faced Manchester City in various competitions. The Argentine striker has scored six goals plus two assists against City.

It is not impossible, the record will increase even though Messi is currently defending Les Parisiens. Guardiola also still considers Messi as a scourge on the front lines of whatever team he is defending.

“For a long time you wouldn’t have expected him (Messi) to be like this. We don’t know what will happen. But I’m sure he will be happy in Paris. His career has been amazing, I hope he does well in the next game.” Guardiola said as reported by the Mirror.

On the one hand, there is a possibility that Messi will not play fully after missing the last two matches. He reportedly suffered an injury so he did not compete against Metz and Montpellier.

PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino said he would include Messi’s name in the squad. However, he still needs to consider several possibilities so as not to affect Messi’s physique, who is not yet 100 percent fit.

“He’s in good shape and will be in the squad for tomorrow’s match. But, I can’t decide who will be in the starting line-up,” he said.
