De Gea’s Reaction After Becoming A Hero Of Manchester United’s Victory

De Gea was one of the heroes of Manchester United’s victory, when they beat West Ham 2-1 in the 2021/2022 English Premier League, Sunday (19/9). The Spanish goalkeeper became United’s savior from a draw, after blocking Mark Noble’s penalty kick in the final minute of the match.

MU could only take the lead in the 89th minute through Jesse Lingard’s action. But West Ham got a penalty in injury time, when Luke Shaw made a handball. In a stadium full of Hammers supporters, De Gea calmly made a save.

“In the end it was crazy, an incredible goal from Jesse, a stupid penalty, a lucky penalty for them at the end of the game,” De Gea said.

De Gea did not expect David Moyes to enter Noble to be the kicker. It was because he thought, Declan Rice was the executor, after seeing him holding the ball.

At that time De Gea only thought about making a save and bringing the team to victory. He realized it was always difficult against West Ham at the London Stadium.

“In the end, I made a save, took three points, three points were valuable for us. So we are very happy,”he said.

De Gea is happy because his team was able to bounce back from a strange defeat at Young Boys in the Champions League match last week.

“We fought together. We came here with the intention of taking the three points and we succeeded,” said the Spanish goalkeeper.
